Taiyuan Wusu Comprehensive Free Trade Zone has climbed to 137th place nationally, according to the 2024 performance evaluation results for national comprehensive bonded zones released by the General Administration of Customs, improving by 10 positions compared to last year. In Central China, it now ranks 20th, up by two places.
To drive high-quality development in the bonded zone, Taiyuan Customs, in collaboration with relevant departments, has implemented comprehensive support measures. These include targeted investment attraction, business model cultivation, and data monitoring. A direct transfer solution for goods within the zone has been developed to reduce logistics costs and enhance customs clearance efficiency. This initiative has facilitated the export of over 1 billion yuan ($140.05 million) worth of rail transit equipment to international markets such as India and Canada.
Additionally, innovative bonded maintenance services for non-operational aircraft have been launched. The construction and acceptance of super-wide and heavy checkpoints have led to the successful clearance and storage of 14 batches of aviation equipment since 2024. This has helped the province's aviation maintenance and material trade scale reach 112 million yuan, a 5.5 percent increase. The zone also supported the entry of Pinduoduo, the province's first major e-commerce platform, achieving full-mode cross-border e-commerce operations.
Taiyuan Customs will continue to strengthen foreign trade development, expand the "bonded+" economy, and promote the sustained positive development of the comprehensive bonded zone, laying a solid foundation for the province's application to establish a free trade pilot zone.
