Shanxi, Zhejiang collaborate on intelligent mining robot development
Updated: 2025-09-15
A significant step has been taken in the development of intelligent mining robots, as companies from Shanxi and Zhejiang provinces recently signed collaborative research agreements under the support of the Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone and Hangzhou High-tech Zone (Binjiang).
Shanxi Coking Coal Energy Group Co, Shanxi Keda Automatic Control Co, and Hangzhou Unitree Robotics Limited? have signed the "Joint Research Laboratory for Multi-legged Special Mining Robots" agreement. Additionally, these companies, along with Hangzhou Embodied Intelligence Pilot Base Technology Co, signed the "Framework Agreement for the Joint Development of Embodied Intelligent Mining Robots".
Shanxi Keda Automatic is a leader in automation, information, and intelligent technology, offering a mature software and hardware technology system. Unitree Robotics, holding the most patents for quadruped robots in China, commands over 60 percent of the global market share for these robots.
Shanxi Coking Coal Group is a globally influential entity in coking coal production, with sales and production volumes among the highest worldwide. Hangzhou Embodied Intelligence Pilot Base focuses on the "embodied intelligence + humanoid robot" sector, aiming to create a collaborative innovation consortium integrating government, industry, academia, research and application.
The collaboration will play to each party's strengths to develop intelligent mining robots capable of autonomous decision-making and collaborative operations in complex and narrow underground mining environments. The project seeks to further automate mining operations to reduce labor, increase efficiency, and enhance safety.
