Shanxi province is employing its rich cultural heritage to transform historical and intangible cultural assets into modern, lifestyle-oriented cultural and creative products, driving the high-quality development of its cultural tourism industry.
As a cradle of Chinese civilization, Shanxi boasts over 53,000 immovable cultural relics and 182 national intangible cultural heritage items, ranking among the top in the country. These figures not only demonstrate its historical significance but also provide endless inspiration for cultural innovation in Shanxi.

In recent years, creative designs from various parts of Shanxi have captured much attention. For instance, Xinzhou's "Carp Leaping Over the Dragon Gate" accessories use natural plant dyes to symbolize good fortune, while the "Yingxian Wooden Pagoda" backpack allows young people to carry a piece of ancient architecture into modern life.
At the 7th Shanxi Cultural Industries Fair in August, the "Cultural Creation in Shanxi" exhibition area was bustling with visitors and transactions. A handicraft team from Yunzhou district, Datong, has empowered 86 rural women to earn income from home by crocheting "Foxiaoban" hoodies, turning intangible cultural skills into tangible economic benefits.
On Taiyuan's Zhonglou Street, the Jinli Urban Reception Hall features cultural products inspired by knife-cut noodles and vinegar jars, which can be used both as toys and decorations. These interactive creations offer a playful yet culturally rich experience that captivates tourists.
Behind each iconic cultural product lies an innovative interpretation of Shanxi's deep cultural roots. The province continues to develop cultural IPs that showcase both emotional and symbolical significance, creating a win-win for both cultural and market development.
